Hammerslake is an ancient hamlet just outside the village of Lustleigh. It is positioned on the eastern flank of the Cleave, a beautiful wooded river valley on the very eastern edge of Dartmoor. The river Bovey flows from north to south and there are plenty of walks along its banks. Here the countryside is a little softer than the high moor, with trees and well stocked gardens, but huge granite rocks are visible in the fields and gardens – a reminder that the moor is on the doorstep.

Hammerslake Cottage was originally 3 farm workers cottages which have been amalgamated into one house. Originally built in the middle of the 16th Century, the house retains many of the original features including a bread oven, huge fireplaces, and ancient beams. Over the years, it has been sensitively added to so that it now provides spacious and comfortable accommodation. We also have ample parking for guests.

The garden is a delight, an acre of ground surrounding the house with a stream and ponds, weeping willows and a wonderful view over the Wray valley to the east.

We also have a field which currently accommodates our chickens from the top of which are far reaching views to the coast.
